About Me
Christopher Morais, MD, is an assistant professor of ophthalmology at the University of North Carolina who focuses on neuro-ophthalmic disorders. He cares for adults and older children with conditions affecting the optic nerve and visual pathways, and he uses advanced optic nerve imaging to clarify complex visual symptoms and guide treatment. Dr. Morais began practicing ophthalmology in Brazil in 2008, working in both private practice and a specialty eye hospital in Brasília. He later served as Chief Medical Officer at a biotechnology company in Denver before completing fellowship training in neuro-ophthalmology at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. Originally from New York and raised in Brazil, he provides care in English and Portuguese and values clear communication, timely diagnosis, and coordination with neurology and primary care when needed. At UNC Kittner Eye Center in Chapel Hill, he aims to deliver thoughtful, evidence-based care that helps patients understand their condition and move forward with confidence.
