About Me

Dr. Chad D. Hummel is a board-certified, fellowship-trained ophthalmologist at The Eye Institute of West Florida. He provides cataract and refractive care, including Light Adjustable Lenscataract surgery, with a focus on helping patients achieve clearer vision and greater day-to-day confidence.

Dr. Hummel earned his B.A. in Liberal Studies through the Medical Scholars Program at the University of Delaware and completed medical school at Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University. He then completed ophthalmology residency training at the University of Florida–Jacksonville. He pursued additional subspecialty training in cornea, cataract, and refractive surgery, training under Dr. Robert Weinstock and Dr. Neel Desai.

He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and he works to make consultations straightforward—so patients understand their options and what to expect at each step.
