About Me
Catherine Choi, MD, is a specialist in ophthalmology accepting new patients by referral, with a focus on oculoplastic and reconstructive surgery. She grew up in Korea, Germany, and Belgium before moving to the United States. Her academic journey includes studying neuroscience at Johns Hopkins University, where she conducted research on Parkinson's disease, which led her to medical school and an interest in ophthalmology due to its vision-saving surgeries.
Dr. Choi was drawn to oculoplastic surgery for its blend of functional and cosmetic procedures, covering areas like oncology, endocrinology, trauma, and reconstruction. She completed subspecialty training at Harvard/Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. She is an active member of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS) and has authored over 30 peer-reviewed papers, 10 book chapters, and been an invited speaker at national and international meetings.
Her clinical expertise includes functional and cosmetic eyelid surgeries such as ptosis correction and blepharoplasty, eyelid tumor resection and Mohs reconstruction, thyroid eye disease, orbital tumors and fractures, and tear duct surgery. She also offers periocular and facial rejuvenation with botulinum toxin, dermal fillers, and lasers. Outside of her practice, she enjoys traveling, skiing, and exploring the Bay Area.
