About Me
Dr. Bruce B. Becker is a comprehensive ophthalmologist who specializes in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery. He is a Clinical Professor at the Jules Stein Eye Institute, University of California Los Angeles, where he teaches residents weekly. Dr. Becker has twice received the prestigious award of outstanding clinical faculty at the Jules Stein Eye Institute and has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed medical journals and book chapters.
Dr. Becker is known for inventing the Lacricath balloon catheter and the DacryoCath irrigating balloon catheter, which have revolutionized the treatment of obstructed tear ducts. His inventions have helped thousands of children born with blocked tear ducts, tearing, and constant infection. He has also developed new tubes for treating tearing and blocked tear ducts and invented many balloon catheters used for sinusitis.
Dr. Becker specializes in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the eyelids and brows. His area of specialization also includes the diagnosis and surgery of the tear ducts and orbits. He is one of the small number of fellowship-trained ophthalmic plastic surgeons in Southern California.
