About Me
Balaji Perumal, M.D. is an Ophthalmic Plastic, Facial Cosmetic and Reconstructive Eye Surgeon. He specializes in a wide range of reconstructive and cosmetic oculofacial procedures to help patients improve both function and appearance. His expertise includes eyelid reconstruction, ptosis repair for droopy eyelids, cosmetic blepharoplasty for eyelid lifts, orbital tumor management, entropion and ectropion repair for eyelid malpositions, lacrimal system disorders addressing tearing problems, thyroid eye disease treatment, periocular skin cancer and lesion removal, and facial rejuvenation with non-surgical treatments.
Dr. Perumal completed his undergraduate education at the University of Pennsylvania and earned his Medical Degree from Duke University School of Medicine. He then undertook an internship at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan, followed by an ophthalmology residency at the Kresge Eye Institute where he won multiple awards for top research. He further honed his skills through an intensive two-year fellowship in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery sponsored by the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Albany Medical Center.
He is a member of the exclusive American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, with only about 600 members nationwide, and is board-certified by the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Perumal is dedicated to helping patients achieve their best look through advanced surgical and non-surgical techniques.
