About Me
Dr. Anastasios P. Costarides serves as director of Emory Eye Center's Glaucoma service and holds the Pamela Humphrey Firman Professorship of Ophthalmology in the section of Glaucoma. His clinical practice focuses on the medical and surgical management of patients with glaucoma, including evaluating long-term outcomes of glaucoma surgeries and drug delivery systems. He has participated in pivotal research studies such as the Advanced Glaucoma Intervention Study and the Ocular Hypertension Treatment Study, sponsored by the National Eye Institute and industry.
In addition to patient care, Dr. Costarides is actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, and has served as glaucoma fellowship director since 2001. He is an Associate Professor at Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Costarides also serves as the team ophthalmologist for both the Atlanta Falcons and the Atlanta Hawks.
Dr. Costarides is board certified in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology and holds memberships in the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Glaucoma Society, and the Georgia Society of Ophthalmology, where he served as president in 2010.
