About Me
Dr. Alexander Talalight is a board-certified ophthalmologist and retina specialist at Maynor and Mitchell Eye Center. A native of Russia, he moved to the United States 30 years ago and studied in England before completing his Bachelor of Science degree at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. He was named the Biology Student of the Year in 1997 and subsequently conducted laboratory research in immunology, biochemistry, and infectious diseases at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Dr. Talalight earned his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine, where he received the Charles Selah award for excellence in surgery. He then completed his ophthalmology residency at UAB and a vitreoretinal fellowship at the Retina Specialists of Alabama and Helen Keller Foundation in Birmingham. He joined Retina Centers of Alabama in Huntsville in 2011.
He specializes in treating diseases of the retina and vitreous, including macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal detachments. Dr. Talalight is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists. He holds an academic appointment as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Alabama School of Medicine and serves as a Clinical Instructor at the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine and Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine.
