About Me
Dr. Tarek Persaud is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in retina and vitreous conditions. He completed his vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at Retina Consultants of Alabama and his residency at George Washington University. Born in Belleville, Ontario, he grew up in Florala, Alabama and is now settled in Huntsville with his family. His wife, Smitha, is a neurologist, and they have two young children, Shaun and Maya. Outside of medicine, Dr. Persaud enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with his family.
As a retina specialist, Dr. Persaud focuses on conditions such as macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, and retinal detachment repair. He is also involved in international ophthalmology. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Retina Specialists, the American Medical Association, the Medical Association of the State of Alabama, and the Madison County Medical Society. Dr. Persaud is dedicated to providing state-of-the-art medical and surgical treatment for retinal problems, aiming to minimize the effects of serious vision problems for his patients and their families.
