About Me
Dr. Thomas Lamson is a cataract and comprehensive eye care specialist at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia. Raised in Tully, New York, he studied Physics with a minor in Chemistry at St. John’s University before earning his medical degree from Stony Brook University. He went on to complete a rigorous ophthalmology residency at the combined MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and Washington Hospital Center program in Washington, DC, followed by a fellowship in Academic Global Ophthalmology at Wills Eye. During his fellowship, Dr. Lamson traveled internationally to provide cataract surgery and other essential eye care for patients in under-resourced communities. He now serves as Director of the Wills Eye Emergency Room and Ophthalmology Consult Service at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, while also caring for patients on the Wills Eye Cataract and Primary Eye Care Service. Dr. Lamson is committed to listening closely, explaining options in clear language, and bringing what he has learned around the world to every patient he treats in Philadelphia.
