About Me
I was born and raised in the East Bay, which is where I consider home. At a young age, I developed a keen interest in biology and the health sciences. My parents, both of whom are retired health care professionals and former providers at Kaiser Permanente, were influential in my desire to become a physician. I received my undergraduate degree in physiological science from University of California, Los Angeles, and then my medical degree from Loma Linda University.
While in medical school, I became fascinated with the complexity of the eye and the visual system. I was also impressed with the elegance of microsurgery and its potential to dramatically improve one’s quality of life. I went on to complete a residency in ophthalmology at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. I then pursued further subspecialty training in cornea, external disease, and refractive surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City. There, I learned to manage complex corneal and ocular surface diseases and to perform corneal transplants, complex cataract surgery, and laser vision correction. During the latter stages of my training, I traveled abroad to perform corneal transplants in Jamaica and Mauritius.
I joined The Permanente Medical Group in 2019. Kaiser Permanente’s integrated care model allows me to deliver safe and timely care of the highest quality to my patients. I look forward to meeting you and working together to care for your eye health and vision.
