About Me
Dr. Somya Chowdhary is an ophthalmologist who specializes in neuro-ophthalmology, pediatric ophthalmology, and the management and treatment of strabismus. She cares for children and adults with complex conditions that affect eye movements, alignment, and the visual pathways connecting the eyes and brain.
Dr. Chowdhary joined the WVU Eye Institute and the WVU Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences faculty in 2022, where she serves as an assistant professor. She completed advanced fellowship training in neuro-ophthalmology and inherited retinal diseases, as well as a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus at the University of Miami Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, and a pediatric ophthalmology fellowship at UPMC.
Her goal is to work closely with families to understand how vision problems affect daily activities, provide thoughtful explanations, and offer both surgical and non-surgical options when appropriate. She aims to partner with patients over time to protect vision and support comfortable, single vision.
