About Me
Dr. Roy Butera is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in comprehensive eye care, with a special interest in cataract surgery and intraocular lens implants. He practices in Thousand Oaks, providing a full spectrum of ophthalmic services for adults and children over ten years of age, including routine evaluations, glasses, contact lenses, eye diseases, and surgery.
Dr. Butera graduated summa cum laude from the University of Illinois in biologic sciences and earned his medical degree from Northwestern University, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Scholastic Honorary. He completed his internship at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center and his residency training at the University of Wisconsin Center for Health Sciences, serving as chief resident.
In addition to his training, Dr. Butera participated in clinical research in fluorescein angiography at Northwestern University, co-authored several medical publications, and completed a clinical preceptorship at Guy’s Hospital in London, England. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
