About Me
Dr. Ralph C. Eagle Jr. is Chief of the Ophthalmic Pathology Department at Wills Eye Hospital and a Professor of Ophthalmology and Pathology at Sidney Kimmel Medical College. His clinical expertise centers on the morphological characterization of ocular neoplasms and other diseases of the eye and adnexa using advanced microscopy and immunohistochemistry. He has made significant contributions to the understanding of conditions such as Iridocorneal Endothelial (ICE) Syndrome and Stargardt disease, and has collaborated extensively with Wills Eye's Oncology Service.
A dedicated educator, Dr. Eagle has taught eye pathology to hundreds of ophthalmology residents and has lectured internationally. He is the sole author and illustrator of a widely used atlas and textbook of eye pathology, now in its third edition, and directs the eye pathology section of the Lancaster Course. His work has been recognized with numerous honors, including the Zimmerman Medal and the Henry B. Stallard Medal.
