About Me
Dr. Oscar Kuruvilla is an ophthalmologist who specializes in comprehensive eye care, with advanced training in retinal diseases and cataract surgery. He grew up in the Philadelphia area and earned his undergraduate degrees with honors in Biology and Psychology from Case Western Reserve University. He then completed medical school at The Ohio State University and a residency in Ophthalmology at Henry Ford Hospital, where he served as Chief Resident. Dr. Kuruvilla further honed his expertise through a fellowship in Vitreoretinal Disease and Uveitis at the Vanderbilt Eye Institute.
His clinical interests include diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, and uveitis, and he is skilled in the latest techniques for cataract surgery. Dr. Kuruvilla is known for his excellent communication and the strong relationships he builds with his patients. He has authored scientific papers on neurodegenerative disease, ocular pharmacology, and macular diseases, and has presented his research at national meetings. He also serves as a board member for the Charlotte Ophthalmology Society.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Kuruvilla enjoys spending time with his wife and children, and his hobbies include football, outdoor activities, cooking, and movies.
