About Me
Dr. Matthew D. Thompson is a cataract surgeon who enjoys helping patients see clearly and comfortably at every stage of life. Raised in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, he brings a friendly, down-to-earth approach to care and uses modern, small-incision techniques designed for quick recovery and excellent visual outcomes. Patients appreciate his clear explanations, thoughtful surgical planning, and attention to detail when selecting the right lens option for their lifestyle.
Dr. Thompson completed medical school at the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine and ophthalmology residency training at the University of Cincinnati/Cincinnati Eye Institute, where he served as Chief Resident. He sees patients in Charleston, Point Pleasant, and Ripley and partners closely with your primary eye doctor to coordinate care. Outside the clinic, he’s a husband and father who enjoys hiking, fishing, kayaking, traveling, and cheering on college football.
