Dr. Joseph Gussler

Dr. Joseph Gussler is an ophthalmologist who specializes in cornea and external eye diseases. He received his undergraduate education at Vanderbilt University and earned his medical degree at the University of Louisville. He then completed his residency and a fellowship in cornea at the University of Kentucky.

After his fellowship, Dr. Gussler moved to Savannah and joined the Georgia Eye Institute in 1994. He currently serves as the President of Georgia Eye Institute of the Southeast and is the Medical Director of the Georgia Eye Institute Surgery Center. His clinical focus includes corneal conditions and he is one of the only surgeons in the greater Savannah area to perform the DSEK procedure, a specialized corneal transplant technique.

Dr. Gussler is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Savannah Society of Ophthalmology, reflecting his commitment to the field and to the local medical community.
