About Me
Dr. John T. McAllister is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in general adult eye care, with a particular focus on cataract surgery and laser-assisted cataract surgery. He earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin, where he graduated with honors in research and received the Millmann Award. Dr. McAllister completed his medical internship at Wheaton Franciscan St. Joseph Hospital, where he was recognized for his bedside manner, and then undertook his ophthalmology residency at The Eye Institute of Froedtert Hospital and the Medical College of Wisconsin, receiving the POET award for excellent patient care.
Dr. McAllister is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and serves on the Academy’s Health Policy Committee. He also contributes to the American Medical Association’s RVS Update Committee and sits on the boards of the Northern Virginia Academy of Ophthalmology and the Virginia Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons. He has authored and co-authored several peer-reviewed articles in ophthalmology and vision science, reflecting his commitment to advancing eye care.
Outside of his practice, Dr. McAllister and his wife are the parents of four young children. He enjoys traveling, singing, painting, and spending time with his family.
