About Me

Dr. John Eitzen is an ophthalmologist specializing in cornea and external diseases. He earned his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine and completed an internal medicine internship followed by an ophthalmology residency at UAB and the Eye Foundation Hospital. Dr. Eitzen further refined his expertise through a cornea fellowship at Tulane University, focusing on the management of complex corneal conditions.

In 1990, Dr. Eitzen entered active duty in the United States Air Force and served during Operation Desert Storm. While deployed, his unit built and operated the largest medical evacuation facility in the Gulf War theatre, and he served as the ophthalmology advisor to the CENTAF Surgeon General. After his military service, he completed additional residency training at LSU and Ochsner Clinic Foundation.

Dr. Eitzen is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and is dedicated to providing comprehensive, patient-centered eye care. He enjoys sports, music, and good conversation, which helps him build strong connections with his patients.
