About Me

Jimena Franco, MD, is a cornea and external disease specialist and assistant professor of ophthalmology at The University of New Mexico. She provides medical and surgical care for corneal disorders and anterior segment problems, and performs cataract surgery. Dr. Franco earned her medical degree at the University of Arizona College of Medicine, completed an internship with the Tucson Hospital Medical Education Program, and went on to ophthalmology residency at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where she served patients in a busy, hands-on environment. She completed a fellowship in cornea at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Fluent in Spanish, Dr. Franco values clear communication, patient education, and shared decision-making, and strives to make each visit welcoming and efficient. Her clinical interests include restoring a clear cornea, relieving ocular surface discomfort, and helping patients return to the activities they enjoy with better, more comfortable vision.
