About Me

Dr. Jimena Franco is an ophthalmologist specializing in cornea and external diseases. She completed her medical degree at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in 2015. Following medical school, she undertook an internship at Tucson Hospital Medical Education Program in 2016. Dr. Franco then pursued specialized training with an ophthalmology residency at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, completed in 2019. To further subspecialize, she completed a cornea fellowship at UTSouthwestern Medical Center in 2020.

In her current role as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of New Mexico, Dr. Franco focuses on providing comprehensive care for cornea and external eye diseases. Her clinical expertise includes the evaluation and management of these conditions, as well as performing surgical procedures such as corneal transplantation, anterior segment reconstruction, and cataract surgery. She is fluent in Spanish, which enables her to communicate effectively with Spanish-speaking patients and provide culturally competent care.
