Dr. James A. Katowitz is an attending surgeon and Director of Oculoplastic and Orbital Surgery in the Division of Ophthalmology at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. He specializes in surgery to improve the function and appearance of facial structures, particularly the eyelids, orbits, and tear-draining systems.

Dr. Katowitz emphasizes listening and supporting families in addition to treating their child's condition. He helped develop CHOP's multidisciplinary approach to treating children with craniofacial conditions. As a researcher, he works on improving surgical techniques and studying the psychosocial effects of facial deformities. Dr. Katowitz has authored numerous articles and edited textbooks on pediatric oculoplastic disorders.
