About Me
Dr. Herbert J. Glatt is a specialist in oculoplastic surgery whose practice is entirely focused on the diagnosis and surgical treatment of eyelid and tear duct conditions. He has performed over 14,000 operations since joining University Eye Specialists in 1989, and his expertise encompasses both functional and cosmetic procedures.
Dr. Glatt treats a wide range of eyelid issues, including drooping upper eyelids (ptosis), excess upper lid skin that can impair vision, and lower lid abnormalities such as entropion (lids that roll inward), ectropion (lids that roll outward), and retraction. He also has extensive experience in the surgical removal of eyelid skin cancers and subsequent reconstruction, as well as the removal of benign lesions such as moles, cysts, skin tags, and xanthelasma. For patients with tear duct obstructions, he performs surgery to alleviate tearing and infections. All surgical procedures are performed with a focus on patient comfort and safety, typically under sedation or general anesthesia.
Dr. Glatt earned his undergraduate degree summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania and his medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine. He completed fellowships in oculoplastic surgery and ophthalmic pathology, and is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He serves as a clinical assistant professor at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville.
