About Me
Dr. Harry M. Engel is a retinal specialist with over 25 years of experience in ophthalmology and ophthalmic surgery. His expertise spans medical and surgical retina, ophthalmic pathology and oncology, and the rehabilitation of traumatized eyes. Dr. Engel treats a wide range of retinal conditions including macular holes, retinal degeneration, age-related macular degeneration, and vitreo-retinal disorders. He also performs lens surgery and repair of traumatic injuries to the eyelids, lacrimal system, and globe.
Dr. Engel has pioneered the use of bioadhesives for ocular injury repair and has made significant contributions to the field of scleral wound repair. He is often called upon to assist with complex surgical cases involving failed procedures. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Engel is a Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and has trained many retinal surgeons. He remains a clinical resource for the diagnosis and management of ocular disease, infection, and trauma.
