About Me

Dr. George J. Florakis is the Malcolm P. Aldrich Professor of Ophthalmology at Columbia University Medical Center and Director of Columbia Ophthalmology in Westchester. He is an expert in corneal surgery and consultation, specializing in management techniques for corneal transplants, endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK, DSAEK), corneal dystrophies, and anterior segment trauma and reconstruction.

A national leader in corneal diseases, Dr. Florakis is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and holds memberships in numerous professional organizations including the Eye-Bank for Sight Restoration and the New York Ophthalmological Society. He has authored many book chapters and peer-reviewed articles and lectures extensively both nationally and internationally.

Dr. Florakis completed his ophthalmology residency at Columbia's Edward S. Harkness Eye Institute and a fellowship in corneal and external eye diseases at the University of Iowa. He sees patients in Westchester and at Columbia University Irving Medical Center.
