About Me
Dr. Gene Howard is an internationally recognized oculoplastic surgeon who specializes in cosmetic and reconstructive eyelid and facial surgery, as well as orbital and tear duct surgery. He provides care for conditions affecting the eyelids, tear ducts, and orbit, offering both medical and surgical treatments.
Dr. Howard completed his undergraduate education at Bowdoin College and earned his medical degree, a master's in public health, and an internal medicine internship at Johns Hopkins University. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Illinois and a fellowship in oculoplastic surgery and orbital oncology at the University of Iowa. Dr. Howard spent two years working on international eye health projects in East Africa and South Asia before returning to the United States.
Dr. Howard is currently a clinical professor at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) and serves as chairman of the surgical committee at East Cooper Medical Hospital. He sees patients at Carolina Eyecare Physicians in Mount Pleasant and West Ashley.
