Dr. Gail Ganser

Dr. Gail L. Ganser is a board-certified ophthalmologist at Piedmont Eye Center in Lynchburg, Virginia. She is the area’s only pediatric ophthalmologist and also specializes in neuro-ophthalmology, treating both children with vision development issues and adults with unexplained vision loss. Dr. Ganser completed her medical training at Vanderbilt University, followed by residency at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute and a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Dr. Ganser provides comprehensive eye care including pediatric eye exams, glasses prescriptions, patching therapy, and surgery for conditions such as amblyopia and strabismus. She also offers Botox cosmetic treatments. Her approach focuses on building partnerships with patients and their families to identify and treat eye conditions. In neuro-ophthalmology, she works with older patients experiencing vision loss, often using brain imaging and bloodwork to solve diagnostic puzzles.
