Dr. Eric Hansen

Dr. Eric Hansen is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of retinal diseases and ocular oncology. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the top-ranked Bascom Palmer Eye Institute and pursued advanced fellowship training in vitreoretinal surgery and ocular oncology. Dr. Hansen previously served on the faculty at the University of Utah Moran Eye Center, where he founded and directed the ocular oncology service and trained fellows and residents in vitreoretinal surgery.

Dr. Hansen’s clinical expertise includes conditions such as retinal detachments, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, macular holes, and epiretinal membranes. He also manages intraocular tumors and tumors of the ocular surface. He is committed to a collaborative and patient-centered approach, emphasizing compassion, trust, and open communication to empower patients in their healthcare decisions. Dr. Hansen is also passionate about global health and works with international organizations to improve access to eye care.
