About Me
Dr. Carolina A. Chiou is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery. She cares for adults with eyelid, orbital, and tear drainage problems, as well as patients seeking functional or cosmetic eyelid procedures. Dr. Chiou graduated magna cum laude from Florida International University with dual degrees in biological sciences and chemistry, then earned her medical degree from Harvard Medical School. She completed her ophthalmology residency in the Harvard Ophthalmology Residency Training Program and went on to an American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery fellowship in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery at Massachusetts Eye and Ear/Harvard Medical School. Her clinical interests include eyelid malpositions, blocked tear ducts, orbital malformations, inflammation and tumors, traumatic injuries, and reconstruction after skin cancer. Dr. Chiou is also active in research, presenting at national and international meetings and publishing in peer-reviewed journals. She is passionate about expanding access to eye care, including work with underserved communities and participation in global medical missions.
