About Me
Dr. Carl J. May Jr. is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in cataract and LASIK surgery. He earned a degree in business from Loyola College in Baltimore, a master’s degree in physiology from Georgetown University, and a medical degree from Jefferson Medical University. He completed an internship in medicine at the Medical Center of Delaware and Christiania Hospital and a residency in eye surgery at Stony Brook and Nassau County Medical Center in New York.
Dr. May began his ophthalmology career in Hanover, Pennsylvania, in 1994 and opened his own practice, the May Eye Care Center (MECCA), in 2001. His clinical focus is on cataract and refractive surgery, and he has been an early adopter of advanced technologies such as Wavefront WaveScan and the VISX STAR S4 system for LASIK surgery. He is known for introducing these state-of-the-art techniques to the Central Pennsylvania area.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. May has been involved in research and has presented to medical groups on cutting-edge techniques in ophthalmic surgery. He has also appeared on local television programs and in newspapers to educate the public about eye surgery.
