About Me

Dr. Amee Azad is an Ophthalmology Resident in the Harvard Ophthalmology program, graduating in 2025. She was born and raised in Southern Indiana and completed her undergraduate education at Washington University in St. Louis, earning a BA in Biochemistry and Anthropology. Her undergraduate research focused on the effects of racial inequities, discrimination, and linguistic profiling on healthcare access, work that earned her the First Place Senior Honors Thesis award from the Department of Anthropology.

Dr. Azad earned her MD and a Master of Science in Epidemiology and Clinical Research from Stanford University School of Medicine. Her research there continued to explore discrimination in healthcare, examining sociocultural and economic factors behind gender disparities in surgical care in Malawi and within academic ophthalmology in the United States. She has published over 30 articles in leading peer-reviewed journals and has presented her work at major national and international conferences. Committed to health justice, she founded the Stanford Health Justice Coalition. Following her residency, she plans to complete an ASOPRS Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery Fellowship at Mass Eye and Ear.
