About Me
Dr. Alessandro Iannaccone is a professor of ophthalmology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill who specializes in the care of complex and rare eye diseases. He has particular expertise in treating Inherited Retinal Diseases (IRDs) and Autoimmune Retinopathy (AIR), and his clinical focus encompasses a range of retinal conditions including pediatric retinal diseases and optic nerve disorders.
Dr. Iannaccone is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists, and he is a Fellow of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. He serves on several scientific advisory boards, including the Foundation Fighting Blindness and the Choroideremia Research Foundation. His research and clinical work also involve serving as Global Medical Lead for Cell and Gene Therapies in Ophthalmology.
