Dr. Valerie Chen

Valerie H. Chen, M.D. is a board-certified ophthalmologist in Charlotte who has completed a highly regarded American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS) two-year fellowship. As a highly skilled ophthalmic plastic surgeon, Dr. Chen rounds out Providence Eye’s commitment to providing procedures to improve people's vision and lifestyle.

Dr. Chen is passionate about both the science and art of her work and is dedicated to providing her patients with the best possible care. Her kind and approachable bedside manner ensures that patients feel comfortable and confident throughout their treatment journey. Prior to joining Providence Eye, Dr. Chen was at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, where she held the title of Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology in the section of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

After many years of medical training, she has set roots down in Charlotte. Being part of the Providence Eye team enables Dr. Chen to help patients improve their field of vision and, in many instances, their self-confidence. Dr. Chen lives in South Charlotte with her husband Trey and their two daughters.
