About Me
Dr. Tarek El-Sawy is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in oculoplastic surgery, including cosmetic and medical procedures for the eyelids, eye socket, and tear duct system. He is an experienced ophthalmologist at Spectrum Eye Physicians, specializing in medical and surgical eye care to help patients achieve optimal vision.
Dr. El-Sawy earned his undergraduate degrees in Physics and Philosophy from the College of William & Mary in Virginia. He completed his MD and PhD at Case Western Reserve University in Ohio, graduating with honors in the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. His ophthalmology residency was at Columbia University in New York, where he was elected Chief Resident and awarded the Heed Fellowship. He then pursued sub-specialty training in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery at the MD Anderson Cancer Center and Texas Oculoplastic Consultants.
Dr. El-Sawy is a mentor and educator, having served as full-time faculty in the Department of Ophthalmology at Stanford University since 2012. He finds great joy in building lasting relationships with his patients—both adults and children—while helping them achieve improved vision and confidence.
