About Me

Dr. S. Amal Hussnain is a board-certified ophthalmologist dedicated to providing the most advanced retina care in a highly personalized manner. He performs surgery for conditions such as macular holes, epiretinal membranes, retinal detachments, and intraocular lenses. Additionally, he treats medical disorders of the retina including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and vein occlusions.

Dr. Hussnain graduated summa cum laude with a B.Sc. in biochemistry from Union College in Schenectady, NY. He then attended Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City, where he was awarded the Edward Norton Prize in Ophthalmology. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Yale University, serving as Chief Resident in his final year, and then a two-year Vitreous and Retina Surgery Fellowship at Columbia University, Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital, New York University, and Vitreous Retina Macula Consultants of New York.

He has presented at national meetings, published numerous peer-reviewed articles, and contributed to medical textbooks. Dr. Hussnain is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Retina Specialists, and the Association of Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. His current research interests include ophthalmic imaging, age-related macular degeneration, and epiretinal membranes.
