Meet Dr. Samuel Welling Beckstead

Dr. Samuel Welling Beckstead is an ophthalmologist specializing in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery. He treats eyelid malpositions and droopy eyelids, tear drainage abnormalities, periocular trauma, and periocular skin cancers, and he performs a range of eyelid and periocular procedures tailored to each patient’s functional and aesthetic needs. In addition to subspecialty care, he offers cataract surgery and comprehensive ophthalmic services. Patients appreciate his thoughtful explanations and collaborative approach to surgical planning.

Dr. Beckstead graduated from Brigham Young University and earned his medical degree from the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he was inducted into Sigma Sigma Phi. He completed a transitional internship at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Virginia and ophthalmology residency at the Penn State Eye Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and remains active in teaching and service.
