About Me
Rachel Israilevich earned her Bachelor of Science in neuroscience from Tulane University in 2018 and is graduating with her Doctor of Medicine from Sidney Kimmel Medical College in 2023. Her academic journey has been marked by significant involvement in leadership, community service, and research within ophthalmology.
During medical school, Rachel engaged in multiple research projects with the retina department at Wills Eye Hospital, leading to publications in high-impact journals and presentations at national conferences. She received the Dean’s Research Award and SKMC Lavine Research Scholarship for her work. Rachel served as president of the Thomas Duane Ophthalmology student interest group and editor-in-chief of inSight, a student-run ophthalmology journal. She was also voted onto the e-Board of the American Society of Ophthalmic Trauma and selected for the Student Leadership Forum.
Committed to patient care, Rachel advocates for vulnerable populations through her coordination and volunteering at the Wills Eye Ophthalmology Access Clinic and leadership roles in JeffHOPE, which provides free medical care. She is set to begin her ophthalmology residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota in July 2023, with aspirations to become a retina surgeon.
