Meet Dr. Michelle E Akler

Dr. Michelle Akler is a board certified ophthalmologist in Detroit who has been providing ophthalmic care to the Dearborn, Downriver, and East Side communities for the past 25 years. She has performed over 12,000 LASIK procedures and over 6,000 cataract surgeries, and has been honored as a Laservision Top 5 LASIK surgeon.

Dr. Akler attended the University of Toronto Medical School, graduating with top honors, and completed her ophthalmology residency at the University of Colorado in Denver. She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, and several other professional organizations. Dr. Akler is on staff at Dearborn Surgery Center, Southgate Surgery Center, Beaumont Hospital Southshore Campus, and Michigan Outpatient Surgery Center. She has also completed three medical mission trips to Migori, Kenya, providing medical and surgical ophthalmology services.
