Meet Dr. Maria Andrea Reinoso

Dr. Maria Reinoso provides comprehensive care for retinal diseases, offering both medical management and surgical interventions. She specializes in conditions such as diabetic retinopathy, where she monitors and treats to prevent vision loss, and age-related macular degeneration, using the latest therapies. For retinal detachments, she performs urgent vitreoretinal surgery to restore vision. Her practice also addresses retinal vascular occlusions and inherited retinal disorders like Usher syndrome.

After earning her MD from Rosario University, Dr. Reinoso enhanced her skills with a research fellowship at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, followed by clinical training in internal medicine, ophthalmology residency, and a specialized retina fellowship. She is now an associate professor and program director for the ophthalmology residency at LSU, where she educates future specialists.

Dr. Reinoso is committed to research, investigating Usher syndrome, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy to develop better treatments. She holds board certification and is involved in leadership roles within ophthalmology societies, contributing to the advancement of retinal care.
