Dr. Marguerite Weinert

Dr. Richard Helms is an ophthalmologist and clinical instructor at the University of Michigan Kellogg Eye Center, where he is completing fellowship training in pediatric ophthalmology. He earned his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University and completed an ophthalmology residency there as well. Dr. Helms also holds a PhD in physics from Cornell University, bringing a strong scientific background to his clinical work. Dr. Helms cares for infants, children, and adolescents with a variety of eye and vision concerns, from routine screenings to more complex conditions. He is dedicated to making visits as comfortable as possible for young patients and their families, explaining findings and treatment plans in straightforward, reassuring language. By combining advanced training with a calm, collaborative approach, he partners with families to support healthy visual development and help children see their best at home, in school, and at play.
