About Me
Dr. Lawrence Handler is an oculofacial plastic and reconstructive surgeon who treats conditions affecting the eyelids, eyebrows, tear duct system, orbit, and surrounding facial areas. His comprehensive training includes medical school at Rosalind Franklin University Chicago Medical School, an ophthalmology residency at Sinai Hospital of Detroit, and an advanced fellowship in oculofacial plastic surgery at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine Scheie Eye Institute and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. He is board-certified in ophthalmology and a member of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS), a distinction held by only several hundred surgeons in the United States.
Dr. Handler's practice addresses a wide range of surgical needs, from functional issues like droopy eyelids (ptosis) and tear duct obstructions to reconstructive procedures after trauma or cancer. Because surgery around the eyes can affect vision, his specialized training ensures that patients receive care that addresses both aesthetic concerns and the health of the eye itself. He is affiliated with Beaumont Hospital Royal Oak, Henry Ford Macomb Hospital, and TruVista Surgery Center, and serves as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine.
