Meet Dr. Karolinne Maia Rocha

Dr. Karolinne Maia Rocha is a sub-subspecialist in cataract, cornea, and refractive surgery. She has received numerous awards for excellence in ophthalmology, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology's Achievement Award and the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine Teaching Excellence Recognition Award. Dr. Rocha is actively engaged in clinical research, having published over 100 scientific works, and she contributes to the field as a regular reviewer for leading ophthalmic journals.

As a member of the executive subcommittee of the International Society of Refractive Surgery, she is involved in teaching at national and international conferences. Dr. Rocha has served as a course instructor for the American Academy of Ophthalmology's laser refractive skills transfer course since 2009 and teaches specialized courses on corneal collagen cross-linking and corneal topography.

Dr. Rocha completed her medical degree in Brazil and advanced training at institutions like the Cleveland Clinic and Emory University. She joined the faculty of MUSC Storm Eye Institute in 2014 and currently serves as the director of the cornea and refractive surgery division, where she provides expert care and advances treatment options for patients with vision disorders.
