About Me
Dr. Jerome V. Giovinazzo is a board-certified ophthalmologist dedicated to providing state-of-the-art ophthalmic care to the Staten Island community. He is well versed in the surgical treatment of vitreo-retinal diseases, dislocated intraocular lenses, complex cataracts, and the medical management of retinal disease. His clinical interests include endophthalmitis treatment, retinal pathology, physician wellness, and ophthalmic workplace efficiency.
Dr. Giovinazzo earned his bachelor's degree from Amherst College and his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine. He completed his ophthalmology residency and a vitreo-retinal surgical fellowship at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. Fluent in English and medical Spanish, he is able to attend to patients from various cultural backgrounds and takes a genuine interest in researching new advancements to ensure his patients receive the most advanced treatment possible.
He has won numerous research awards at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and has published multiple peer-reviewed academic papers. Dr. Giovinazzo is a member of the American Society of Retina Specialists and the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and he works in association with The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and Staten Island University Hospital.
