About Me
Dr. Edward Baron is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained neuro-ophthalmologist who has been caring for patients on the South Shore of Long Island for over 25 years. He specializes in diagnosing and treating neuro-ophthalmic conditions, which involve visual problems related to the nervous system such as double vision and vision loss.
Neuro-ophthalmology encompasses conditions that overlap between the eye, brain, and extraocular muscles, and Dr. Baron uses thorough diagnostic evaluation to identify the underlying cause. In addition to double vision and vision loss, he treats ischemic optic neuropathy and other optic nerve disorders. He also provides surgical management for orbital conditions and strabismus correction. Dr. Baron is committed to comprehensive neuro-ophthalmic care and serves as Chief of Ophthalmology at Jacobi Medical Center, as well as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at SUNY Downstate and Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
