About Me

Dr. Debarshi Mustafi is a board-certified ophthalmologist and assistant professor who specializes in pediatric vitreoretinal diseases and inherited retinal conditions. He completed his undergraduate degree in chemistry at the University of Chicago, followed by MD and PhD degrees at Case Western Reserve University as part of the NIH Medical Scientist Training Program. After internship in internal medicine and ophthalmology residency at the University of Southern California, he completed a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the University of Washington and joined the faculty there. Dr. Mustafi cares for children with complex retinal disorders and works closely with families to explain diagnoses, genetic testing, and emerging treatment options. His clinical practice is complemented by an active research lab focused on the genetic basis of inherited retinal degenerations and the development of new therapies. He is involved in clinical trials and helps patients understand when participation may be appropriate for their condition. Outside of medicine, he enjoys running, golf, traveling, and spending time with his family.
