Meet Dr. Asha Kumar

Dr. Asha Kumar is a corneal specialist in Western New York with over 40 years of experience managing corneal diseases and performing refractive surgeries. Her expertise includes corneal transplants, complex corneal infections, dystrophies, and severe dry eye. She is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

Dr. Kumar completed a fellowship at the Flaum Eye Institute at the University of Rochester, where she trained under Dr. James V. Aquavella, the first fellowship-trained corneal surgeon in the United States. She has taught ophthalmology residents at the Buffalo VA Hospital for 30 years and volunteered surgical services in Nicaragua from 2010 to 2015. Dr. Kumar is dedicated to providing quality eye care to patients throughout Western New York.
