About Me
Dr. Amar Joshi is an ophthalmologist specializing in oculoplastic and orbital surgery. He serves as the Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center. Dr. Joshi's clinical focus includes comprehensive evaluation and management of diseases affecting the eyelids, ocular adnexa, orbit, and lacrimal system.
He provides functional, reconstructive, and cosmetic eyelid surgery, addressing conditions such as dermatochalasis, ptosis, ectropion, entropion, and skin cancers around the eye. Dr. Joshi also manages orbital diseases including fractures, tumors, and thyroid-associated orbitopathy, and performs repairs for tear-drainage problems like nasolacrimal duct obstruction.
Dr. Joshi completed his medical education at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and advanced training through a transitional medicine internship, ophthalmology residency, and a fellowship in ophthalmology, orbital and oculoplastic surgery. He is committed to medical education, having received a teaching award, and participates in leadership development programs within the field.
