Dr. Samuel Hobbs

Dr. Samuel D. Hobbs is a comprehensive ophthalmologist with Eye Associates of New Mexico, caring for patients at the Albuquerque Retina Center and other clinic locations across the state. He provides general medical and surgical eye care and enjoys building long-term relationships with patients who need ongoing monitoring of their vision and eye health.

Dr. Hobbs earned his medical degree from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. He completed an internship at San Antonio Military Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, followed by an ophthalmology residency with the San Antonio Military Medical Center and Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and serves as an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. Dr. Hobbs offers careful evaluation of vision changes and works collaboratively with referring providers to coordinate care, including access to retina services when needed. He strives to explain diagnoses and treatment options in practical terms so patients can make informed decisions. Outside of medicine, he appreciates time with family and the outdoor lifestyle and community found in New Mexico.
