Dr. Robert Balkan

Dr. Robert Balkan is a board-certified ophthalmologist with over 25 years of experience. He has a special interest in children's eye diseases and adult eye muscle disorders. He is known for using magic to calm and entertain young patients during exams, making visits less intimidating for children.

Dr. Balkan completed his medical degree at Rush Medical University in Chicago, followed by a medical internship and ophthalmology residency at the Ochsner Foundation. He then pursued advanced training in rare eye diseases and strabismus at UC San Francisco. He participated in the original Botox FDA clinical trial and was among the first in New Orleans to use Botox for functional and cosmetic treatment of facial and eye muscle disorders.

Dr. Balkan has contributed to ophthalmology literature and served as past president of the New Orleans Academy of Ophthalmology and the Eye Ear Nose and Throat Hospital medical staff. He currently sees patients in New Orleans.
