Meet Dr. Eric Lee Berman

Dr. Eric Lee Berman is a specialist in neuro-ophthalmology and oculoplastic surgery at MUSC Health's Storm Eye Institute in Charleston, South Carolina. He serves as director of the neuro-ophthalmology service and holds the Dr. William A. and Sandra F. Johnson endowed chair in neuro-ophthalmology. Dr. Berman treats patients with a wide range of neuro-ophthalmic conditions and provides oculoplastic surgical care.

Dr. Berman has extensive experience, having previously practiced in Sarasota, Florida, for 18 years, and has held clinical associate professorships at the University of South Florida, the University of Louisville, and the University of Rochester. He is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and remains active in the North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society.

He completed his medical training at the State University of New York-Downstate Medical Center, where he also completed his ophthalmology residency, and fellowship training in neuro-ophthalmology, orbital, and oculoplastic surgery at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Berman has authored numerous journal articles and textbook chapters and co-authored a book on neuro-orbital anatomy.
