Meet Dr. David John Massop

Dr. David J. Massop is a board-certified, fellowship-trained retina specialist who cares for patients across central Iowa with Wolfe Eye Clinic. He enjoys helping people preserve and restore sight, and sees patients in the Ankeny, Marshalltown, Fort Dodge, and West Des Moines locations. A native of Des Moines, Dr. Massop earned a Bachelor of Science in biology and environmental science from Saint Louis University and completed his medical degree at Creighton University School of Medicine. He then pursued an internship at UnityPoint Health – Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Dr. Massop completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio before undertaking a vitreoretinal fellowship at Wolfe Eye Clinic, where he joined the professional staff in 2022. He welcomes both new and established patients for comprehensive medical and surgical retina care, and is known for his friendly, team-oriented approach to patient communication. Outside of clinic, he enjoys time outdoors with his wife and three children.
