About Me
Andrew Browne is an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences at the UC Irvine School of Medicine. He specializes in Ophthalmology with a focus on Retina and Vitreous conditions, providing advanced care for retinal diseases. He holds an M.D. from the University of Cincinnati and a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering, integrating engineering principles into clinical practice.
His research interests include Retinal Organoid Biology, Functional Biophotonic Imaging, and Lab-On-a-Chip devices, driving innovation in diagnostic and treatment methods. He has been honored with awards such as the Allergan Retina FIRST program and NIH KL-2 Scholar, recognizing his contributions to retina research and mentorship.
With training that includes a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Cole Eye Institute and residency at the University of Southern California, he combines extensive clinical experience with cutting-edge research to improve patient outcomes in conditions like acute posterior multifocal placoid pigment epitheliopathy, radiation retinopathy, and choroidal melanomas.
